MY PRIORITIES

I seek to ensure that the City Treasurer's Office operates with the utmost accuracy and efficiency while providing excellent and attentive customer service.
MY GOALS FOR THE CITY TREASURER'S OFFICE
Accuracy

The foremost responsibility of the City Treasurer is to ensure that all tasks and transactions are carried out, processed, documented and reported accurately.  With decades of financial management experience, I am dedicated to closely supervising the operations of the Treasurer's Office with the highest attention to detail.

Efficiency

Second only to the need for accuracy is the need for efficiency. With highly trained and experienced personnel on staff and leveraging the latest technology, I seek to carefully utilize resources in a conservative and sensible way.  I also seek to continuously identify best practices in other localities and am committed to incorporating the strongest management approaches and tools.

Transparency and Accountability

Transparency is oppenness and honesty.  I believe that transparency and accountability are necessary features of good government and I am totally committed to them as Treasurer.  I promise to conduct myself scrupulously at all times and expect the same of my team.  I also seek to ensure that the Treasurer's Office is always as helpful and forthcoming as possible in our dealings with the public.   

Excellent Customer Service

I view all who rely on the Treasurer's Office for services as customers, starting with the taxpayers of the City of Manassas but also including the staff of other city offices with whom the Treasurer's Office interfaces, as well as city leaders like the city manager, mayor and council.  I also view external entities with whom the Treasurer routinely works, like state offices and independent auditors, as customers who deserve the best service possible from the Treasurer's Office.

 

Excellent customer service begins with a positive attitude and true desire to help.  It also means being attentive, responsive and well-informed.

 

Compliance

Among the many responsibilities of the City Treasurer is the need to ensure compliance with a vast array of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and internal and external reporting requirements.  Having earned full certification as a Master Governmental Treasurer from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia, I am committed to maintaining administrative, financial management, customer service and investment policies and procedures consistent with all certification requirements.  I am also committed to actively supporting professional development and career advancement for employees of the Treasurer's Office.
